Privacy Policy

1.  Brim is committed to respecting your privacy and the confidentiality of your personal data, traffic data and communications content.

This Privacy Policy sets forth TarheelVentures.com, Inc.’s ("Brim", "we", "us", and/or "our") policy with respect to information including personally identifiable data (“Personal Data”) and other information that is collected from visitors to http://br.im (the "Site") and from users of the Brim desktop and mobile applications (the "Service").

We want to state clearly that Brim is not in the business of selling your information.  There are, however, certain ways in which we will use your Personal Data, as set forth in more detail in this policy.

2.  Information We Collect:

2.1 Personal Data that You Provide

We collect Personal Data from you, such as your name, email address, phone number, and profile photos when you voluntarily provide such information, such as when you register for access to our Service, or use certain parts of the Service.  We may also collect your billing information if you decide to upgrade your account.  By providing us with Personal Data, you are consenting to our use of it in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you provide Personal Data, you acknowledge and agree that such Personal Data may be stored on Brim's servers and other authorized parties located in the United States and other countries.

We collect information from and about the devices you use to access the Service such as IP addresses, the type of browser, and the type of device you use.

When you use our Service, we store, process and transmit your messages (including Brim spreadsheets, documents, drawings, tasks, and memes), uploaded files (such as documents, photos, and movies) and information related to them (for example, annotations).

If you import your email contacts, Brim will store those contacts on our servers for you to use. This will make it easy for you to do things like share content, send emails, and invite others to use the Service.

Your profile pictures may be visible to anyone with access to our Service.   Since Brim captures very little Personal Data from you, your profile pictures help others to identify you.

2.2 Non-Identifiable Data

When you interact with TarheelVentures.com, Inc. through the Service, we receive and store certain personally non-identifiable information. Such information, which is collected passively using various technologies, will not be used to specifically identify you.  Brim may store such information itself or such information may be included in databases owned and maintained by Brim affiliates, agents or service providers. The Service may use such information and pool it with other information to track, for example, the total number of users of our Service, the aspects of the Service being used, or the domain names of our visitors' internet service providers.  In operating the Service, we, or our vendors, may also use a technology called "cookies." A cookie is a piece of information that the computer that hosts our Service gives to your browser when you access the Service. Our cookies help provide additional functionality to the Service, help us analyze Service usage more accurately and may be used in marketing the Service. For instance, we may set a cookie on your browser that allows you to access the Service without needing to remember and then enter a password more than once during a visit. We will not collect Personal Data through such cookies except with your permission. On most web browsers, there is a “help” section that provides information on how to receive notification when you are receiving a new cookie and how to turn cookies off. We recommend that you leave cookies turned on because you may not be able to use the Service without them.

2.3 Aggregated Personal Data
In an ongoing effort to better understand and serve the users of the Service, Brim often conducts research on its customer demographics, interests and behavior based on the Personal Data and other information provided to us. This research may be compiled and analyzed on an aggregate basis, and Brim may share this aggregate data with its affiliates, agents and business partners. This aggregate information does not identify you personally.  Brim may also disclose aggregated user statistics in order to describe our services to current and prospective business partners, customers and to other third parties for other lawful purposes.

2.4 Mobile Analytics
We use mobile analytics software to allow us to better understand the functionality of our Service on your mobile device. This software may record information such as how often you use the application, the events that occur within the application, aggregated usage, performance data, and where the application was downloaded from.

3.  Use of Personal Data and Other Information
Brim uses the Personal Data and other information you provide in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Policy. If you provide Personal Data for a certain reason, we may use the Personal Data in connection with the reason for which it was provided. For instance, if you contact us by email, we will use the Personal Data you provide to answer your question or resolve your problem. Also, if you provide Personal Data in order to obtain access to the Service, we will use your Personal Data to provide you with access to, and to monitor your use of, the Service. Brim may also use your Personal Data and other personally non-identifiable information collected through the Service to help us improve the content and functionality of the Service, to better understand our users and to improve the Service, and to send you tips about using Brim or inform you of new features and other news about the Service. Any email we send to you, other than those necessary to operate the service, will include the means for you to "opt-out" of receiving similar email in the future. In addition, you can adjust your preferences for email communication by visiting this page:  https://br.im/account/summary

4. Disclosure of Personal Data and Other Information
In certain circumstances we may share your Personal Data with certain third parties without further notice to you, as set forth below:

Your Use: We will display your Personal Data on the Service (e.g., profile page) according to the preferences you set in your account. Please consider carefully what information you disclose in connection with the Service, how you select your preferences, and your desired level of privacy. Through certain features of the Service, you may also have the ability to make some of your files or information available to third parties or the public. Always remember that when you share any type of information with others, such information may be broadly and quickly disseminated.

Business Transfers: As we develop our business, we might sell or buy businesses or assets. In the event of a corporate sale, merger, reorganization, dissolution or similar event, Personal Data may be part of the transferred assets. You will be notified via email and/or a prominent notice on our Web site of any change in ownership or uses of your Personal Data, as well as any choices you may have regarding your Personal Data.

Consultants and Similar Third Parties: Brim sometimes hires other companies to perform certain business-related functions. Examples of such functions include mailing information, hosting servers, providing data center services, maintaining databases and processing payments. When we use another entity to perform a function of this nature, we only provide them with the information that they need to perform their specific function. These companies are authorized to use your Personal Data only as necessary to provide these services to us.

Legal Requirements: Brim may disclose your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to (i) comply with a legal obligation, (ii) protect and defend the rights or property of Brim or third parties, (iii) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the Service or the public, or (iv) protect against legal liability.

5. Your Choices
You can choose not to provide any Personal Data. If you choose not to provide any Personal Data, you may not be able to use the Service.  To keep your Personal Data accurate and current, please use the account summary page https://br.im/account/summary to update, correct or delete Personal Data in our possession. These changes take effect immediately.  You may turn off cookies as described above, but if you do so you may not be able to use the Service.

6.  Data Retention
We will retain your Personal Data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. We will retain and use your Personal Data as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

7.  Exclusion
This Privacy Policy does not apply to any Personal Data collected by Brim other than Personal Data collected through the Service, the site, and the mobile application. This Privacy Policy shall also not apply to any unsolicited information you provide to Brim through the Service or through any other means. This includes, but is not limited to any ideas for new products or modifications to existing products, and other unsolicited submissions (collectively, “Unsolicited Information”). All Unsolicited Information shall be deemed to be non-confidential and Brim shall be free to reproduce, use, disclose, and distribute such Unsolicited Information to others without limitation or attribution.

8.  Children
As a Service directed to adult users, Brim does not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under the age of 13. Children should not use the Service or submit any Personal Data through the Service. If you have reason to believe that a child under the age of 13 has provided Personal Data to Brim through the Service, please contact us, and we will endeavor to delete that information from our databases.

9. Security
Brim takes reasonable steps to protect the Personal Data provided via the Service from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access or disclosure.  If you have any questions about security on the Service, you can email security@br.im.  When you enter sensitive information (such as login credentials) we encrypt the transmission of that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL). We follow generally accepted standards to protect the Personal Data submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. However, no electronic or email transmission or digital storage mechanism is ever fully secure or error free. Therefore, you should take special care in deciding what information you share electronically in connection with the Service.

10.  Other Terms and Conditions
Your access to and use of the Service is subject to our Terms of Service at https://br.im/terms-of-service.

11.  Changes to Brim's Privacy Policy
The Service and our business may change from time to time. As a result, at times it may be necessary for Brim to make changes to this Privacy Policy. Brim reserves the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time and from time to time without prior notice. However, if we make a change to this Privacy Policy that has a material impact on your rights or the way we collect or use your Personal Data, we will endeavor to provide you notice (e.g., by email or by posting a notice on the Site or Service) prior to the change becoming effective. Please review this policy periodically, and especially before you provide any Personal Data. This Privacy Policy was last updated on the date indicated above. Your continued use of the Service after any changes or revisions to this Privacy Policy shall indicate your agreement with the terms of such revised Privacy Policy.
